This was a recent defect that was spotted during a home inspection underneath a fireplace. At first glance you may just see the broken outlet and figure it needs to be replaced, easy fix. However, if you look closer you will notice rusting inside the metal box . Upon further investigation (using a moisture meter and a thermal infrared camera) we discovered water intrusion around the fireplace.
