Thermal Imaging
If you’re interested in learning more about thermal imaging in Indianapolis and the surrounding areas, call INSPEKT.
The thermal infrared camera has become one of the most useful tools in the home inspection profession. Thermal infrared cameras can go beyond what the eye can see and find hidden defects in the home. Because we feel this is such an important part of a thorough home inspection, it is automatically included in your home inspection report from us.
How Does Thermal Imaging Work?
Thermal infrared cameras are designed to “see” by detecting temperature differences. This allows the camera to see things that the human eye cannot see.
For example, if water intrusion is occurring in a home, it can often go undetected by the naked eye. The thermal infrared camera can often detect this because it will display the water intrusion as a different temperature.
Thermal imaging is also useful for determining energy loss in your home. Before we leave a home inspection, we do a whole house thermal infrared scan.
Why doesn’t every home inspector use thermal imaging on their home inspections? Thermal infrared cameras are very expensive. The cheapest cameras start at $1,000 and can go above $40,000.
